Title: Save that Scrap! Choosing and Sizing the Correct Size-Reduction Equipment for Your Specific Application

Description:

Everyone knows we need to recycle more and we need to waste less. We need to be more efficient.  Size-reduction is the answer to re-purposing your extrusion line scrap - whether that is pipe, profile, tubing, sheet, or film.  Knowing the correct configuration of size-reduction equipment is important to the process of eliminating waste.

Type: General Session

Abstract:

We all extrude unique products.  Some extrusions are tiny, flexible, and "sticky".  Some are large-diameter, rigid and tough.  Most of what we make is actually a wide variety of products in between.  We all want to elminate waste and recycle, but do so efficiently.  It's important to be able to determine what size-reduction equipment (granulators and shredders) are not only appropriate, but perfectly matched for your application.  This presentation will give you the knowledge you need to work with your equipment supplier to identify the ideal size-reduction solution that allows you to re-use or sell as much of your scrap material as possible.  What type of cutting chamber is best for me?  What blades are designed for my material type and product type?  How can I choose the best screen size?  Is horsepower important?  What are my options for feeding and evacuating my granulator?  All these questions and more will be answered in this presentation.
