Description:

"Inpush" is as important as output, and is controlled by such things as rear barrel temperature, bulk density and feed lubricity (slippery is no good) as well as screw design and screw speed.  Output depends on design and speed as well, but also on melt temperature and die resistance (controls pressure in screw). A gear pump runs the show, but doesn't always work as planned. Material formulation plays a role too, as more heat-stable materials can run hotter without discoloration or degradation, and may thus run faster if cooling doesn't limit rate.
