Today, processors have a very large portfolio of materials at their disposition to optimize the performance and economics of their extruded products. Machinery has also become ultra-specialized and targeted to a specific product. Rheology, is the Science of the flow of matter. Understanding how polymer melt flows has become more and more critical for machinery designers, but also for processors. We will review the key principles of polymer melt rheology and go through some applications to the extrusion process
